This was taken during my aunt's Grahapravesham ( house warming ceremony ) . The lamp is being placed on the thulasi thara . Thulasi Thara , is a sacred platform / pot where you put in a Thulasi cheddy ( Basil plant ) . It is typical of mallu architecture to put one right in front of the house .
